RETINOL
Retinol is a fat-soluble form of vitamin A and is often referred to as preformed vitamin A. Retinol is the one of the most active and useful forms of vitamin A and has a major role in maitaining healthy vision and bone growth as well as confering the positive protective actions of an antioxidant. Retinol is sometimes used in preparations to treat severe acne. Since it is fat-soluble retinol (unlike the water soluble vitamins) is stored in the body and thus can accumulate to toxic levels resulting in hypervitaminosis A.
