What Is Vitamin B3

Vitamin B3 also known as Nicotinic Acid is one of the vitamins that makes up the Vitamin B Complex group and is essential for normal functioning of the nervous system as well as the gastrointestinal tract. Vitamin B3 aslo goes by the names Niacin, Niacinamide and Nicotinamide.

Functions of Vitamin B3

Like the rest of the Vitamin B Group, Vitamin B3 helps to convert carbohydrates into glucose (sugar) which is metabolised to produce energy. Other functions of Vitamin B3 include:

  • Cell Respiration--metabolisis (breakdown) of fats, carbohydrates and proteins to release energy required by the body.
